The 55 year old driver who was reported dead in the train accident has been identified by the name of Carl Veltri. He hails from the island of Trinidad. The case is still under investigation and the officials from the Colorado State Patrol office have reported that a possible cause of the accident may have been the absence of proper barricades at the railway crossing gates, while there was a signboard warning the travelers of a railway crossing, there were no crossing arms.

Carl Veltri had his seat belt on at the time of the train accident and yet suffered injuries that took away his life reported police authorities. The officials have also ruled out the presence of alcohol or drugs in the blood of the truck driver after the toxicology tests were submitted, thus ruling out the possibility of an accident under the effect of prohibited substances.

The truck of Carl Veltri was headed towards the north when the Amtrak train struck against his vehicle, reported the police. The train dragged his vehicle for a distance of nearly half a mile, thus causing injuries which proved to be fatal. All 300 passengers in the train have been reported uninjured.
