Ten killed in South Ossetia as bus plunges into ravine

MOSCOW - Ten people were killed Sunday after the bus in which they were travelling crashed into a ravine near the border between Georgia and Russia, the Interfax news agency reported.

Two children were among the dead.

At least 14 people were also injured in the accident, which occurred in South Ossetia, the breakaway province of Georgia at the centre of the 2008 war between Tbilisi and Moscow.

The bus was en route to the southern Russian city of Vladikavkaz when the accident happened.

The cause was not immediately known.
