CAMARILLO (GaeaTimes.com)- On Tuesday as huge plumes of smoke emerged from the forest of Camarillo that lies northwest of Los Angeles, voluntary evacuation have been urged for the residents of the area who are threatened by the wildfire that is threatening the life of around 50 families. The Camarillo wildfire had spread about 50 acres. Although initial reports claimed that the fire had spread over an area of 20 acres, it was later reported that the fire had already spread its wings to an area of around 50 acres. The plumes of smoke that the fire generated were visible from miles away.
Ventura County Fire Captain Ron Oatman said on Tuesday that around 250 firefighters have been deployed to put out the Camarillo wildfire. Along with the firefighters four helicopters and four air tankers were also used by the department to manage the spread of the fire. Ron Oatman said that the voluntary evacuations have been urged for the homes that lie in the community of Somi and the Highlands neighborhood. According to him the fire is spreading uphill and away from homes. Steep canyons of the Camarillo are being engulfed by the fire. The residents of the area have already cleared some space around their property to save themselves from the spreading fire.
As per reports, the officials have traced the origin of the Camarillo fire to a homeless encampment on North Loop Drive of the area that has some expensive hillside homes. However Ron Oatman added that investigators who are investigating the cause have not yet determined whether the Camarillo fire was set intentionally.
