Two arrested for double murder in Delhi

NEW DELHI - Two people have been arrested in connection with the double murder of two lovers in New Friends Colony in south Delhi last week, police said Monday.
Factory worker Hari Lal, 25 and domestic help Bimal, 22, were strangled to death and their bodies were found in a park Saturday.
“The accused have been identified as Edward, father of Bimal, and Ruben Joseph, a security guard,” a police official said.
The assailants killed the duo for the honour of their caste and religion July 10, police said.
Police said that interrogation of the family members of the deceased Bimal disclosed that Bimal and Hari Lal wanted to get married but Edward was against the marriage.
On the fateful night, Ruben, informed Edward that his daughter and Hari Lal were present in the servant quarters of Bimal’s employer. He reached the second floor room of the servant quarters and found his daughter and Hari Lal in a compromising position.
“Edward got hold of Hari Lal with the help of Ruben and strangled him with the chunni of his daughter. Thereafter, Edwards and Ruben strangled Bimal,” police said.
During interrogation, both the accused disclosed that they dumped the bodies in an adjoining park.
Hari Lal was a resident of Jalandhar in Punjab and was working in an iron factory. He came to Delhi in search of a job. Bimal was working as a maid with the family of a businessman residing in New Friends Colony.
