KOLKATA - A woman, her daughter and her minor son were killed by unidentified assailants by slitting their throats in West Bengal’s Birbhum district, police said Saturday. Three people have been arrested.
Police said Nushema Bibi, 38, her married daughter Mojida Khatun, 19, and son Hasib Seikh, 10, were found in a pool of blood by her neighbours late Friday night at Gushna village.
“Both Nushema and her son were declared brought dead by the doctors of Muraroi primary hospital, while Mojida succumbed to her injuries at the hospital,” said Birbhum Superintendent of Police Humayun Kabir.
“We suspect that following a family feud, the trio has been murdered. An investigation has been initiated and so far three people, including a woman, have been arrested,” said Kabir.
A senior police officer investigating the case said Nushema’s estranged husband Rabekul Sheikh has been living with a woman in Jharkhand for the past few years.
“We are suspecting that the second wife of Sheikh might be involved in the crime. So we have arrested her,” said the officer.
Mojida’s husband Janekul Sheikh and his friend Dablu Sheikh, both residents of Kumorpur village in Jharkhand, were also arrested.
