NEW DELHI - A 45-year-old woman and her 20-year-old daughter suffered severe injuries after being attacked by an unidentified man in their home in south Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar area Friday.
The incident took place around 7.35 a.m. when the assailant attacked Monica and her daughter Meghna with an iron rod at their home.
“The accused rang the door bell and, as Monica opened the door, he attacked them. When the women started screaming and calling for help, the attacker panicked and fled from the spot, leaving behind his Santro car,” a police officer said.
“The women have been admitted to Moolchand hospital and are in coma right now,” the officer added.
According to neighbours, they heard the woman screaming and rushed towards their house.
“When we reached the house, he (accused) was rushing out. We tried to catch him but he escaped,” said Bharat Bhushan, a neighbour.
Monica’s husband was not home at the time of the crime.
