Bear killed after attacking Colorado man in home

BAILEY, Colo. — A 51-year-old man is out of the hospital after being attacked by a bear in his home in the mountains west of Denver.

State wildlife officials say the man, whose name wasn’t released, was bitten early Thursday when he found the animal in his basement. Sheriff’s deputies and a state wildlife officer tracked the 320-pound male bear and fatally shot it.

State wildlife oficers say the family heard sounds in the kitchen shortly after midnight. The man was bitten as the bear tried to get past him.
