14 tonnes of narcotics seized in Dubai

Dubai, July 8 (IANS/WAM) Dubai Customs officials have seized over 14 tonnes of narcotic substances, packed inside 73 plastic barrels, at a port situated 25 km from Dubai.
The total weight of the seized cargo at the Jebel Ali port was 14.6 tonnes and each barrel weighed 200 kg, officials said.
Dubai Police’s forensic laboratory experts conducted tests and found that the substance was an emulsion of acetic anhydride and calcium carbonate, which is listed as a contraband substance by the UN.
The barrels were inside a shipping container that included plastic and glass spectacles.
