Congo: UN radio says 190 dead in oil explosion
KINSHASA, Congo — A U.N.-funded radio station in Congo says 190 people have been killed when a truck carrying oil flipped over and exploded overnight in the east of the country.
Radio Okapi reported that the truck was carrying fuel from neighboring Tanzania when it overturned at high speed late Friday in the remote village of Sange, around 100 kilometers (60 miles) outside the regional capital, Bukavu.
The radio said Saturday that some local residents had rushed to steal the leaking fuel when the vehicle exploded.
