Three held for running fake visa racket

NEW DELHI - Delhi Police Friday claimed to have busted a fake visa racket with the arrest of three people, including a Nigerian national and a woman, here.
Gautam Kumar, 26, Nigerian national Agu Rufus Ikechukwa, 28, and Riya Rosy Chettri, 22, were held from south Delhi on complaints of the Canadian High Commission and R. Suresh from Chennai.
“They (the three) used to dupe people on the pretext of providing them jobs in Canada, America and European countries. They charged Rs.20-25 lakh for their services,” a police officer said.
As many as 50 passports of Indian, Nepali and Bangladeshi nationals and various scanned visa slips have been recovered from them.
Suresh has alleged that he along with his friends had paid Rs.10 lakh to them. A total of Rs.5 lakh were paid at the time of receiving passports and visas.
The police officer said Gautam and Riya were working in a call centre in Gurgaon when they met a Nigerian national Thomas who introduced them to Agu.
“They then created a website — www.midasgoldimmigration.com — and offered jobs in a farming company with the name of Village Farm and Sea Food, Toronto, Canada,” the officer said.
The officer said the three were well conversant in internet and had good communication skills. Thomas is absconding.
