NEW DELHI - A gang of human traffickers who would smuggle people to the US, sometimes through Ecuador, has been busted in the national capital, police said Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H.G.S. Dhaliwal said five Bangladeshi men, whom he identified as Ali-ur-Rehman, Saiful Islam, Alam Miyan, M. Omar Farooq and Mafezul Islam, were arrested in this connection.

The accused would facilitate entry of people to the US through the porous US-Mexico border. The gang would smuggle their clients into the US through Latin American countries like Ecuador where visa on arrival facility is available.

“They would ask the client to pay Rs 2.5 lakh initially,” Dhaliwal said.

When the person gained entry to the US, the gang would collect payment of Rs.20-25 lakh from the relatives based in India, Dhaliwal said.
