Delhi court convicts domestic help for double murder

NEW DELHI - A city court Thursday convicted a man who worked as a domestic help for murdering an elderly woman and her 12-year-old grandson in south Delhi in 2007.

“I hold you guilty for the offences of murder, destruction of evidence, attempt to murder and robbery,” Additional Sessions Judge S.K. Sarvaria said, while fixing the hearing for deciding Mithilesh Kumar Singh’s sentence July 7.

According to the prosecution, he faces a maximum sentence of death penalty.

Singh, a resident of Samastipur in Bihar, killed Surjit Kaur, 60, and her maternal grandson Karamveer Singh, 12, in Vasant Kunj neighbourhood March 2, 2007.
