Top ordnance official booked by CBI

KOLKATA - The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Wednesday filed a chargesheet against 12 people, including a former director general of ordnance factories, for alleged criminal conspiracy and corruption.
The CBI had arrested Sudipta Ghosh, the then director general of ordnance factories and chairman of the Ordnance Factory Board, last year for entering into a criminal conspiracy with the other accused for demanding and obtaining huge illegal gratification in matters of supply orders placed to private companies.
Ghosh has also been chargesheeted for allegedly demanding and obtaining gratification in matters relating to transfer and posting of Ordnance Factories officers.
Eleven others have been charged with criminal misconduct and abetment of the offences committed by Ghosh, a CBI statement said.
A Letter Rogatory (LR) has been issued by a special CBI judge to Singapore for investigation into the matter.
The matter will now be heard July 31 by the court.
The other accused include Ghosh’s wife Kajaal and the then additional general manager of Air India, Ramesh Nambiar.
