SHIMLA - Himachal Pradesh’s Director General of Police G.S. Gill Wednesday retired after serving as the state police chief for two years.

Gill, a 1974-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, took charge in August 2008. Before coming here, Gill was on deputation with the Border Security Force.

Gill, who proceeded on a two-month leave before his retirement, Wednesday joined duty but only for a day.

Director General of Police (Vigilance) D.S. Manhas, a 1977-batch IPS officer, is tipped to be the next police chief.
