RAIPUR - Three civilians were shot dead by the Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s restive Bastar district on charges of being informers, police said.

“Maoists stormed into Pattegaon village in Bastar Sunday late night and took away four people. The bullet-ridden bodies of three of them were found in a forest Monday,” Pankaj Chandra, additional superintendent of police, told reporters.

He said that one of them, Parsuram, was found alive with gunshot wounds and he has been admitted to a local hospital.

The officer said that leaflets left by the Maoists at the spot say that the villagers were shot for being police informers.
