KOLKATA - A car laden with 5,000 cartridges was seized in the northern part of the city Monday but its two occupants managed to flee, police said.

The vehicle, which had a Bihar registration plate, was spotted by a traffic sergeant after it jumped a traffic signal near Sovabazar metro station.

The sergeant chased the car and asked for the papers from the two occupants. But instead of producing the papers, the duo fled, said Special Task Force (STF) chief Rajeev Kumar.

He said policemen then searched the car and found 5,000 cartridges hidden in it.
