County official: House fire in upstate NY kills 6
FORT EDWARD, N.Y. — A county official says six bodies have been recovered from a house that was ravaged by fire in upstate New York.
Washington County Public Safety Director Bill Cook said Sunday that the victims have not yet been formally identified. The blaze occurred just after 6 a.m. Saturday in a single-family home in Fort Edward, about 45 miles north of the state capital of Albany.
Florence Palazzo of Lake George told the Glen Falls Post-Star that her 12-year-old and 6-year-old daughters were among the victims. She says all six victims were children.
Officials would not confirm or deny Palazzo’s statement, but they acknowledged that several victims were children.
Three residents escaped from the home and were transported to a burn center for serious injuries.
