Delhi criminal behind 15 murders, robberies held

NEW DELHI - A criminal wanted in 15 cases of murder and robbery has been arrested from south Delhi, police said Thursday.

Dharmendra Yadav, who carried a cash reward of Rs.50,000 on his arrest, was caught Saturday.

“On Saturday we got to know that Yadav will come to Lodhi Road near Sai Baba Mandir to visit some of his associates. We apprehended him from there,” senior police official er said.

According to police, Yadav and his associate Dinesh Tiwari last struck in Mandir Marg area in central Delhi. They were absconding since the time they robbed a jeweller.

“After this robbery, both the accused were hiding in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. We declared a cash reward of Rs.50,000 for anybody who could give any clues about them,” senior police official said.

According to police, the arrest came after secret information was received regarding Yadav’s movements.

At the time his arrest, a country-made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from him.

“We are now trying to nab the other accused, Tiwari,” the official added.
