NEW DELHI - Two people accused of killing a man during a failed car-jacking bid earlier this week have been arrested, police said Wednesday.

Deepak Verma and Anil Kumar were apprehended Tuesday from Khajuri Khas area in east Delhi, police said.

“We arrested the duo Tuesday after we received a secret information about the involvement of the two in the Dhaula Kuan incident Monday,” a police official said.

According to police, Rajnish Arora was shot dead when he was waiting for his brother on Ring Road near Dhaula Kuan.

“He sustained gun shot injuries in his stomach and was taken to hospital by his brother, where he was declared brought dead. The assailants fled from the spot immediately after the crime. They also left the weapon, a country made pistol inside the car,” the police official said.

Police later found out that the mobile phone of Arora was also stolen by them.

According to police, on sustained interrogation both confessed their role in Monday’s incident along with their third accomplice Sonu, who is absconding.

“When they tried to steal the car, the deceased resisted and refused to handover the keys. At this, they tried to forcibly snatch the keys. Accused Verma shot Arora from point-blank range. They also took Rs.400 kept in the car,” the police official added.
