KOLKATA - A sack containing 50 gelatine sticks and other explosive material was found Sunday in West Bengal’s Bankura district, where Maoists are active, police said.

“We have recovered a sack which contained explosive material from an isolated place close to Kusumdumri bus stand,” said an official of the Simlapal police station.

Sources said it was suspected that the sack was to be delivered to the Maoists.

Besides Bankura, the leftwing extremists have a major presence in the West Midnapore and Purulia districts.
