Goldsmith abducted in Himachal, rescued

SHIMLA - A goldsmith based in this Himachal Pradesh capital who was abducted by four miscreants has been rescued from the nearby forests, police said Saturday.

“S.K. Sood, who had been abducted from his house in Vaknaghat (some 20 km from Shimla), was today (Saturday) rescued from the nearby forests,” Solan Superintendent of Police V.K. Dhawan told reporters.

He said Sood told police that he was abducted Friday night by four masked men from his house and robbed of Rs.140,000 and ornaments.

“The abductors later dumped him in an unconscious condition in the Taradevi forests. When he regained consciousness in the morning, he informed the police,” Dhawan said.

Acting on his complaint, police have registered a case.
