NEW DELHI - Three men walked off with some saris and other material from designer duo Monapali’s flagship store in Kolkata Thursday, the fashion designers’ spokesperson said.

“Due to the shortage of staff there was only one person present at the store. Three people came in saying they were from Jaipur and wanted to buy saris. After deciding on the saris they asked the person at the desk to make the bill,” the spokesperson for designers Mona Lamba and Pali Sachdeva, whose store is located on 15 Loudon Street in Kolkata, told IANS.

“The robbers later told him that they want to talk to the designer. As the man on the desk picked up the phone to dial the number, they caught hold of him and fled away with some saris and orders of a client from Hong Kong,” the spokesperson added.

However, the quantum of loss suffered was yet to be ascertained. Police have been informed.

Kolkata-based Mona and Pali are known for their ethnic Indian designs.
