NEW DELHI - The Delhi High Court Thursday lambasted Delhi Police in a matter related to a pregnant girl’s plea seeking protection. The girl is afraid that her family, which is opposed to her love affair, will harm her. Her lover is behind bars.
The following are some of the court’s observations against police:
– “You are turning normal citizens to criminals.”
– “You send boys behind bars on rape charges and allow the parents to kill their daughter.”
– “It’s unfortunate that elopement cases are converted into rape cases. Your police is party to all cases of honour killings. You connive with parents and turn your face the other side.”
– “You can search the entire city if a dog of your boss is lost but you can’t provide protection to the people.”
– “What to talk about humanity when you don’t have shame.”
