Official: 4 dead in southwest Arkansas plane crash
UMPIRE, Ark. — Authorities say four people are dead after the crash of a civilian airplane near the Howard County community of Umpire in southwest Arkansas.
The Howard County sheriff’s office confirmed that an airplane crashed Sunday morning outside Umpire in northern Howard County.
Deputies have blocked off a road leading from U.S. 278 to the crash site several miles west of Umpire, about 90 miles north of Texarkana.
Renee Preslar, spokeswoman for the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management, said she had been told four people were aboard the plane and that all of them died.
Neither the sheriff’s office nor Preslar had details of the crash.
