NEW DELHI - A 19-year-old youth was arrested with 35 kg of charas (hashish), worth Rs.10 lakh, in east Delhi, police said Tuesday.

Sanjeev Kumar from Bihar’s Bettiah district was arrested from Shahdara bus stand Monday.

“Secret information was received by the narcotics cell that some people from Bihar areas bordering Nepal are bringing in charas in huge quantities to supply it in Delhi,” a senior police official said.

During interrogation, Sanjeev disclosed he was sent by Raju, who brings the drug from Nepal and sends it through carriers like himself to Delhi.

A search is being made for Raju, a resident of Bettiah as well and a key player in the trafficking network, the official added.
