Mobile shop owner shot dead in Delhi

NEW DELHI - An owner of mobile phones shop was shot dead by two unidentified men in the national capital, police said Friday.

The shop-owner, identified as Praveen Kumar, 40, was a resident of Katwaria Sarai in south Delhi and ran a mobile phone shop in a nearby market.

According to police, Kumar closed his shop and was on his way back to home Thursday when the attack took place.

“He (Kumar) was intercepted by two men on a motorcycle, and after a brief conversation they shot him,” police official said.

“The incident took place around 7.15 p.m. and bikers shot the victim five times. Two bullets hit his head and three pierced his chest,” police official said.

Eyewitnesses said the two men got down from the motorcycle to check whether he was dead and then fled the spot.
