NEW DELHI - Pointing out that law and order in Delhi remains a concern till all residents do not feel safe, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Friday said the Delhi Police should not just go by a decline in the crime graph.
Commenting on the law and order situation in the city, which will host the Commonwealth Games in October, she told reporters: “The concern remains till everyone, including women, feel safe in the city. Police should not go by the record while tackling law and order.”
The Delhi Police have been patting themselves on the own back on the law and order situation in the city, saying it has shown a declining trend in the recent past. The chief minister also maintained that crime graph in the city has declined, but said all should feel safe.
About road accidents in the city, she said with around 60 lakh vehicles in the city, traffic management is difficult. However, police need to be vigilant and people should also take precautions, she added. “Traffic discipline is needed on Delhi roads.”
