NEW DELHI - A letter Vice President Hamid Ansari’s wife sent to Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra to arrange for her a special “darshan” at the Vaishno Devi temple was fake, Delhi Police said Friday.
Vohra’s secretary received a fax letter earlier this week purportedly from the Vice President’s Office. The letter sent by an anonymous person demanded that Raj Bhavan arrange a VIP “darshan” for Ansari’s wife Salma at the Vaishnavo Devi temple.
However, when the Raj Bhavan Secretariat contacted the Vice President’s Office, it learnt that no such request was made and no fax was sent, and that the letter was fake.
“The Vice President’s Office told Raj Bhavan that it did not send any message to them. Ansari’s office has filed a complaint with Tughlaq Road police station regarding the issue,” a senior police officer said.
“A case has been registered and investigations are on. Jammu and Kashmir Police also are investigating,” the officer added.
