Elephant causes traffic snarl in Kolkata

KOLKATA - An elephant leisurely meandering through the crowded streets of south Kolkata brought traffic to a grinding halt.
A constable on the duty near the busy Gariahat Crossing signalled the mahout to stop the pachyderm, but he paid no heed.
Champa, along with his mahout, was going to Garia Fair on the city’s southern outskirts for a show.
The mahout, Raju Das, was arrested as he did not have the needed documents.
