Scaffolding collapse causes injuries at NY college
VESTAL, N.Y. — Authorities say five people have been injured in a scaffolding collapse at Binghamton University in New York state.
They say a section of scaffolding fell about 60 feet Wednesday afternoon at the East Campus Housing project.
Police tell the Binghamton Press and Sun-Bulletin there were no deaths but one of the victims was bleeding heavily on the way to an ambulance. The condition of the other injured people wasn’t immediately clear.
The university is in the middle of a multimillion-dollar project to repair or replace facilities. Federal job safety officials are on their way to campus.
