Pa. congressional candidate hurt in car crash
TOWANDA, Pa. — Police say they arrested a woman on suspicion of drunken driving after an accident that injured a candidate for Congress in northeastern Pennsylvania.
Police say Republican candidate Tom Marino is expected to spend a second night in the hospital Wednesday after the woman drove into his lane and struck his vehicle head-on.
State police said Wednesday they intend to charge Michele Merschbach after blood tests are complete in Tuesday night’s crash in Towanda Township.
Marino won the nomination last month to take on Democratic Rep. Chris Carney in November in the Republican-leaning district.
