NEW DELHI - One of Haryana’s most wanted criminals, involved in a series of murders and other crimes, has been arrested in Delhi, police said Monday.
Kishori Lal, a contract killer with penchant to kill his victims in crowded areas, was arrested from Jain Nagar near Rohini in north Delhi by the anti-homicide section of the Delhi Police’s crime branch. On the list of Haryana’s most wanted criminals, he carried a reward of Rs.20,000 for his arrest.
Acting on information that Kishori Lal was seen in the area of Begumpur and a tip-off about his movements, a trap was laid near the office of a property dealer, a senior police official said. When the criminal showed up, he was overpowered by the waiting police team.
During interrogation, Kishori admitted his involvement in several sensational murders, attempts to murder and other crimes in Haryana and Delhi.
“In many of these cases, he is a proclaimed offender. He had come to Delhi to execute further plans. He is closely associated with other notorious criminals,” a police official said.
Kishori Lal had committed a series of murders but was never apprehended. He had unleashed a reign of terror in Haryana’s Hisar district.
Kishori Lal’s arrest comes ahead of the Commonwealth Games as the Delhi Police crime branch has been focusing on criminals active in neighbouring states and have the capability to indulge in crime in the national capital, the official said.
