Train schedule goes haywire after derailment

KOLKATA - Train schedules in West Bengal went haywire after the derailment of the Mumbai-bound Gyaneshwari Express near Jhargram Friday, leaving 76 people dead.

Four trains were cancelled: 2021/2022 Howrah-Barbil Jan Shatabdi Express, 2871/2872 Howrah-Titlagarh Ispat Express, 2814/2813 Tata-Howrah Steel Express and the 8645 Howrah-Hyderabad East Coast Express.

Many other trains were diverted via Bokaro Steel City-Kotshila-Purulia-Adra-Midnapur-Kharagpur route like the 2262 Howrah-Mumbai Duronto Express, 2860 Howrah-Mumbai Gitanjali Express, 2870 Howrah-Mumbai Express, 2809 Mumbai-Howrah Mail via Nagpur, 2859 Mumbai-Howrah Gitanjali Express, and 2444 New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express.

The 2801 Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express was diverted via Kharagpur, Midnapur-Adra-Purulia-Kotshila-Bokaro Steel City, a South Eastern Railway statement said.
