NEW DELHI -A 31-year-old man was arrested Monday for allegedly killing his uncle, police said Tuesday.
Deepak Bobal was apprehended by the police near Prashant Vihar, northwest Delhi.
According to the police, Bobal killed his 55-year-old uncle Surender Singh, a jeweller, in March “over money and due to personal hatred”.
“Bobal disliked him as he (Singh) eyed his mother with bad intentions. Also he (Bobal) had huge amounts of loans to repay,” said the police official.
The murder took place in March when Singh was alone at his house and the family had gone on a vacation.
“He bought two knives from the market and on the night of March 26, stabbed Singh to death. He committed the robbery after this,” added the official.
Bobal stole gold jewellery weighing about 2 kg and cash amounting to Rs.10 lakh, the police official said.
“After the robbery, he repaid his loans, bought a second-hand car worth Rs.2 lakh and fled to Ludhiana,” added the official.
Bobal was staying with his wife in Paschim Vihar. After he absconded, his wife shifted to her parents’ house at Rohini.
He returned from Ludhiana Monday evening and was trying to make a call to his wife at the time of his arrest, police said.
