Auto thief murders aide to prevent him from testifying

NEW DELHI - A criminal, who murdered one of his associates and attempted to kill another, has been arrested, police said Monday.
Anant Ram was arrested from a bus stand near the Gurdwara Hargovindsar in Siraspur Sunday. A 9mm pistol and two illegally-made pistols along with 10 live cartridges were seized from him, a police official said.
According to him, Ram, 21, killed his associate Randhir in Haryana’s Sonepat town May 1 as the latter was ready to testify against Ram before the police.
Ram also attempted to kill another associate, Pawan, in the capital’s Kundli area over an argument May 12.
“Ram fired seven rounds from a 9mm pistol on Pawan”, said the official.
According to the police, Ram and his associates were engaged in stealing vehicles and later formed a gang.
