Two held for snatching mobile phones, purses

NEW DELHI - Two men have been arrested here for snatching mobile phones, police said Wednesday.
Anuj Yadav and Vivek, residents of Sangam Vihar, started snatching mobile phones and purses after they suffered heavy losses in betting during the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.
“Acting upon specific information Monday, a trap was laid near Baba Gang Nath Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) gate, and both the accused who were on a motorcycle were apprehended,” a senior police official said.
“During interrogation, it was revealed that both the accused incurred heavy losses in betting during IPL matches and to earn quick money and come out of this loss, they took to crime,” the officer added.
Police are said to have recovered seven mobile phones and one motorcycle from the accused.
