NEW DELHI - The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Wednesday registered a case against an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer for abusing his official position.
Manoj Malviya, a 1986 batch IPS officer of West Bengal cadre posted as additional commissioner (security) in Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), and Virendra Singh Chandrawat, former head of security with the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), were booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Corruption Act.
“The additional commissioner has abused his official position as public servant and entered into a conspiracy with private persons who had official dealings with him during the period May 2009 to February 2010,” a CBI spokesperson said.
The CBI also conducted searches at the office premises and residence of the accused public servant.
