More than 20 people have been killed in one of the worst road accidents in eastern India early Wednesday morning.

Police said all the victims, members of a marriage party were returning to West Bengal when their bus dashed against a road side tree in Dhanbad district in Jharkhand state.

“So far 21 bodies have been recovered but this figure may go up”, a local senior police official Sanjay Ranjan said today.

Past week, at least 30 members of a wedding party had been killed in central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh when their bus hit a high tension overhead live wire.
