Gyaneshwari Express Accident Sends Shock Wave

WEST MIDNAPORE, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- In what is being suspected as a case of sabotage by Maoists, a Mumbai bound express train full of passengers derailed in West Bengal and rammed into a goods train resulting in 30 deaths. The number of casualty may rise as it is being expected. The ill fated Howrah-Kurla Lokmanya Tilak Gyaneshwari Super Deluxe Express met with the tragic accident today morning and 13 coaches of the express got derailed. The images of the mangled wreckage of the train are available in the web now and from them one can understand the severity of the accident. The rescuers are trying to recover more bodies from the derailed coaches of the train.

Mortaja Hussain, the West Bengal Relief Minister said that a lot of passengers who are lying injured in the coaches are yet to be rescued. Mamata Banerjee, the Union Railway minister rushed to the site. Initially she had been informed that an explosion caused the accident but later it was found that a section of the track was missing where the Howrah-Kurla Lokmanya Tilak Gyaneshwari Super Deluxe Express got derailed. The railway minister said that there is high probability that this attack is a plan of the Maoist insurgents active in the region.

Mamata Banerjee, the Railway minister has announced a compensation of INR 500000 for the family of the dead persons and INR 100000 for the persons injured in the Gyaneshwari Express accident. The accident took place in the wee hours of the morning and help arrived 2 hours later as the passengers of the train have alleged.
