Rs.11 lakh stolen from ATM in Agra

AGRA - A sum of Rs. 11 lakh have been stolen from an ATM, which was without CCTV camera and security guard and which was unlocked after cracking the code in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra city, police said Monday.

The theft, that took place in the cantonment area under Sadar police station, was detected by a Syndicate Bank employee at 10 a.m. Monday. Police suspect the theft took place past mid-night.

The bank employee informed police after he saw the lock of the cash tray open and the tray missing.

Senior police officials, including Superintendent of Police City L. Ravi, and the dog squad reached the site along with finger print experts after the theft was reported. Till evening, there was no clue on the burglary.

Police are looking for bank employees who could have passed on the ATM code to someone involved in the crime.
