Dozens of passengers sustained minor injuries after 14 coaches of India’s high-speed Rajdhani Express derailed in Bihar early this morning while most of the passengers were still asleep.

Officials said the train traveling to Guwahati from New derailed near Naugachhia in Bihar when the driver of the train applied emergency brake after hearing a loud explosion.

“The driver has told us that he applied the emergency brake after hearing a loud explosion but there is no casualty”, a senior railway official RK Agrawal said today.

He said they were facing difficulties in launching rescue operation due to heavy rainfall since night.
