CANYON CREEK, Mont. - Authorities in western Montana roused people from their beds early Friday to flee an approaching wildfire, as thunderstorms sparked dozens more in blazes across the West in Idaho and Nevada.

High winds fanned wildfires across at least three Western states Thursday, closing roads and forcing residents from their homes, and the threat of more blazes loomed in California.

ASHLAND, Ore. - Families looked for valuables, pets and mementoes Wednesday in the ashes of 11 homes destroyed by a fast-moving wildfire while a homeless man accused of starting the blaze sat in jail.

ASHLAND, Ore. - A wind-whipped wildfire burned through 11 homes outside an Oregon college town as hot, dry weather - with temperatures near 100 degrees - also helped fires spread in Idaho and Southern California, where homes were evacuated.
