ROBERT, La. - The Coast Guard is preparing for a controlled burn of some of the oil spilled in the Gulf of Mexico now that weather conditions are more favorable.

WASHINGTON - Two more congressional committees have announced they will hold hearings on the Gulf oil spill, adding to an already crowded calendar of oil hearings.

PORT FORCHOUN, La. - A 100-ton contraption to help funnel out oil spewing from the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico was loaded onto a barge Wednesday so it could begin its journey to the leak site about 50 miles off the Louisiana coast.

ROBERT, La. - A massive oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico has become the testing ground for a new technique where a potent mix of chemicals is shot deep undersea in an effort to stop oil from reaching the surface, and scientists are hurriedly weighing the ecological risks and benefits.
