PATNA - Three days after popular Bhojpuri singer Devi alleged that an acting vice chancellor of a Bihar university misbehaved and attempted to molest her at a cultural function in Gaya district, police began investigation into the case, officials said Tuesday.
Devi, known for her Bhojpuri folk songs, alleged that D.P. Sinha of Chapra-based Jai Prakash University tried to molest her, used vulgar language and made lewd gestures at her Feb 18 at a cultural function at the Sambodhi resort in Bodh Gaya, about 110 km from here.
Additional Director General (police headquarters) Rajyavardhan Sharma said that Gaya’s Senior Superintendent of Police Binay Kumar was Monday directed to investigate the allegations against Sinha.
Devi faxed her complaint to the Gaya police superintendent.
However, Sinha has refuted Devi’s charges.
Devi, in her complaint, alleged that Sinha, who was in an inebriated condition, tried to molest her and used vulgar language after snatching mike from her at the podium.
