NEW DELHI - A 22-year-engineering student committed suicide by jumping off an elevated Metro station in west Delhi, police said Tuesday.

Police said the body was recovered Monday near the Kirti Nagar Metro Station after a passerby raised an alarm and police control room was informed. The body was identified with the clues from a bag abandoned at the station Sunday and found to belong to the youth.

“The deceased, Pawan Khatri, was a resident of Ramesh Nagar. His post-mortem report confirmed suicide after jumping from a high place, said a police officer.

The reason behind Khatri taking the fatal plunge is yet to ascertained and a probe is on, the officer added.

“No suicide note was recovered from the spot while it seems that the boy allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the bridge of the Metro station. We are looking through the CCTV footage,” added the officer.

Pawan was pursuing engineering from a private college in Rajasthan and was in second year. His father is a bank employee in Alwar in Rajasthan, said the officer.
