NEW DELHI - Delhi Police arrested three men on charges of killing a young man, whose body was found in the ridge of Rangpuri hills in South Delhi, police said Monday.
The arrested have been identified as Shyam Sunder (28), the victim’s brother-in-law, Mohammad Islam (22) and Mohammad Kasim (23).
The police said they have recovered from the arrested men a knife, blood stained clothes, a country-made pistol, cartridges, a mobile phone and the car in which they took the youth.
The body of 23-year-old Sanjay Yadav, bearing multiple stab wounds, was found in a forested stretch in south Delhi Saturday, police said.
Yadav, an electrician working at a site in Pacific Mall in Subhash Nagar, was a resident of Uttam Nagar in west Delhi.
According to the police official, personal enmity led to the killing.
Shyam Sunder, on interrogation, said that he felt neglected at his in-laws’ place, where he was staying for some years. He was also upset that the educated and employed Yadav was earning well, which finally prompted him to kill his brother-in-law, the official said.
Sundar hired Islam, an old acquaintance, for Rs.1 lakh to eliminate Yadav. Islam sought help from Kasim, a friend.
“The three Saturday took Yadav from Mahipalpur in a car and allegedly killed him with knife. We have recovered the knife, blood stained clothes, a country-made pistol, cartridges, a mobile phone and the car from them,” the police official added.
