Two robbers held in west Delhi

NEW DELHI - A youth, who wanted to buy new clothes and shoes for his brothers wedding, robbed a person early Wednesday in west Delhi but was arrested along with his accomplice, police said.

Ravinder, 20, and his accomplice Manoj, 25, were arrested from Mangolpuri area of west Delhi minutes after they had robbed three people.

The duo admitted that they had committed several petty robberies at knife-point earlier. Ravinder’s brother was getting married next week and he desperately needed money for shopping, a police officer said.

According to police, the duo worked as drug peddlers till a few months back but had to put a stop to their activities due to increased police pressure.

We have recovered a dagger, a stolen cell phone and a wrist watch from them, added the official.
