Three drug peddlers nabbed in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW - Three drug peddlers, who supplied drugs in various Indian states, were nabbed with cannabis worth over Rs.40 lakh in Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh, police said Monday.

They were arrested late Sunday from Transport Nagar in Meerut district in a joint operation by the district police and the Special Operations Group (SOG).

“The three men were nabbed while they were going to Delhi by car to hand over the drugs consignment to their clients,” police inspector Umesh Kumar told reporters Monday in Meerut, around 450 km from here.

The accused, aged around 40, worked for a Nepal-based drugs racket.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the three accused have been working for the Nepal-based racket and were supplying drugs for the last seven years,” he added.

According to police, the accused, who are natives of Uttar Pradesh, primarily used to supply drugs in Bihar, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and NCR regions of Uttar Pradesh.
