Injured woman bleeds for five hours as cops spar

GHAZIABAD - An injured woman bled for five hours near the railway tracks here Sunday as the police and railway authorities blamed each other for not shifting her to hospital.
According to police, the unidentified 35-year-old injured woman was found lying near the tracks at Sadique Ki Pulia in Ghaziabad around 4.30 a.m.
“A leg and an arm of the woman was found cut. She had lost consciousness due to blood loss. She is still critical,” said A.K. Dua, a doctor at the government MMG Hospital where she was eventually shifted due to the efforts of a local journalist.
Earlier, when a passer by informed the Government Railway Police at Ghaziabad junction about the injured woman, he was asked to contact the local police.
The local police cited jurisdictional limitation and claimed it was the responsibility of railway police to help her.
The woman was finally rushed to hospital when a local mediaperson took up the issue with a senior police officer.
“We contacted SP (Superintendent of Police), City, A.K. Vijaita who ordered the Kotwali police to rush the woman to hospital, said Rahul Sharma, the journalist who took up the issue.
