Man dies trying to rescue cat

KOLLAM - A man died Friday while trying to rescue a cat which had fallen into a well in his home in this Kerala district, police said.

“A cat had fallen into the well of Gopinathan, 45. In order to remove the cat, he used a diesel pump inside the well to pump out the water. After some time, two people went into the well to take out the cat. But due to the fumes from the pump, they had breathing problems. Gopinathan also entered into the well but got breathless,” a police official at the Kadakkal Police Station told IANS.

A fourth person then went into the well and safely took out the three. Gopinathan was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead, the official added.
